Despite landing on the scene in 1973, Nike Blazers (named after NBA team the Portland Trail Blazers) continue to be one of the most enduring silhouettes of the brand, going beyond their origins as a high-top basketball sneaker and making their way onto the feet of everyday footwear enthusiasts. This is in large part thanks to the runner’s timeless aesthetic, which features a large embellishment of the instantly recognisable Swoosh logo on an otherwise simple leather upper. As the target market of Nike Blazer shoes shifted, so too did the variety of models, with the classic high top being joined by low and mid designs, including the retro-inspired Mid ’77. Nevertheless, the trainer retains the classic performance features that made it desirable to NBA players (and later skaters), keeping the vulcanised rubber sole.
